It started with a phone stand. The mugs came later.

The stands came first

Everyone sets their phone down twenty times a day, and almost everyone sets it down badly — face down on a counter, propped against a coffee tin, sliding off the arm of a chair. Our first ceramic phone stand was made to fix exactly that: a small, weighted piece of fired stoneware that gives a phone a proper place to rest, at the right angle to actually read from.

It's still what we make most, and still what most people find us for. Every stand is handbuilt and finished in the studio, with a stable base, a comfortable viewing angle, and space for a charging cord.

Then the mugs

The mugs weren't part of the plan. Customers who bought a stand for a desk or a bedside table started asking whether we made something to drink from in the same clay and the same glazes. So we did — wheel-thrown stoneware mugs, and stamped mugs that can carry a logo, a name, a date, or a design pressed into the wet clay before firing.

Mugs are the newer half of the studio and the fastest-growing one, especially for teams, gifts, and custom runs. They share the same clay body, the same kiln, and the same standard as the stands.

Second-generation, made in America

Pottery in this family isn't a passing interest. The skills and studio knowledge were handed down, and each piece is still made and finished in our American studio — never outsourced or drop-shipped.

How we work

We work primarily in stoneware. Each piece is dried slowly, bisque fired, glazed by hand, and fired again until the clay and glaze mature together. Working in small kiln loads lets us pay close attention to form, finish, and glaze response.

Made to be used

Put the mugs in the dishwasher. Leave the stand on a desk that gets used every day. Fired stoneware is one of the most durable materials people have ever made — the worst thing you can do with either piece is save it for an occasion that never arrives.
